Bethany Head

Bethany developed her passion for wound and leg ulcer management as a student nurse on her district nursing placement. Once qualified, she started out in the acute sector, in general medicine to gain initial nursing skills and experience, then moved into the community setting, starting in the community Wound Care Service in Bristol in 2016.

Bethany started off as a developmental wound care nurse being mentored by experienced and highly skilled tissue viability specialist nurses within the team. Opportunities arose to develop into a specialist nurse, taking on more complex patient assessments, remote clinical triage, and teaching in all areas of wound and leg ulcer management across Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG). She is now a clinical nurse specialist in tissue viability and operational lead for the Wound Care Service, in BNSSG.

Bethany joined the Leg Ulcer Forum (LUF) Executive in 2021, she has spoken at 2 LUF face to face conferences and represents the LUF on the Legs Matter Coalition. Her passion is education, she thoroughly enjoys teaching clinicians and supporting them in their development in wound and lower limb management.
