Kirsten graduated as a Registered General Nurse from Morriston Hospital Swansea and went on to obtain a BSc, MSc in Wound Healing and Tissue repair in 2014 she is also qualified as an Independent Prescriber.
Kirstens’ passion for wound healing started when she was a District nurse team leader and then progressed to leading the Community Wound Team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2007.She is passionate about ensuring that leg ulcer care is equitable and accessible to all patients and has been involved in several quality improvement initiatives to improve care for patients with leg ulceration. Part of her inspiration has been drawn from working with like minded professionals within the Leg Ulcer Forum and she is proud to be a member of the Leg ulcer Forum Executive Team promoting and sharing best practice across the UK.
Kirsten joined the Welsh Wounds Innovation Team in January 2020 on a permanent basis following a 2 year secondment from Cardiff and Vale UHB . Her role here assists in providing partnership working across the NHS and independent sector and to identify gaps in service provision to improve wound care practice across Wales. Her clinical skills continue within the NHS Complex Wound clinic in Cardiff.
Kirsten is also an Honorary Lecturer at Cardiff University and supports students on the sessional and MSc Wound Healing Programs. Other activities include peer reviewing articles for publication ,writing articles published in national wound and nursing journals and she has also presented at conferences on a national and international basis.
